 We are Soroptimist

Women at their best, working to help other women to be their best.

Soroptimists are highly motivated professional women of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups who work to advance human rights and the status of women. Soroptimist members benefit from the satisfaction of community service, new perspectives, and lifelong friendships with like-minded women. Service projects range from gala fundraising events to elbow grease efforts. Our programs and events benefit women and girls both globally and within our local community.

Soroptimists provide support and funds to women and girls so that they might fulfill their dreams and achieve their fullest potential. Soroptimists also work to address the root causes of social and economic injustices and conflict. We are an active influence for positive change in society through awareness, advocacy, and action. Soroptimist activities involve members in a broad range of issues that affect the health and well-being of both people and the planet.

Our Mission

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

Our Vision

Women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams.

Core Values

Gender Equality

Women and girls are free to act in their own best interest.

Empowerment

Women and girls are free to act in their own best interest.

Education

Women and girls deserve to lead full and productive lives through access to education.

Diversity & Fellowship

Women from varied backgrounds and perspectives work together to improve the lives of women & girls.

We work to raise awareness about some of the most serious challenges facing women and girls.

%

of U. S. sex trafficking victims were recruited by someone they already knew, not a stranger.

%

of women have been beaten, traumatized, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused.

%

of single mothers under 30 years of age in the United States have not finished college.

%

of teenage girls in the United States will not graduate High School.

%

of women in the U.S. live in abject poverty. That number worsens for women of color.

%

of women will experience rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Shaping a Better Future for Women & Girls

We are committed to serving local, national, and international communities. Soroptimist leaders, regions, clubs, members, and donors tirelessly dedicate their energy and passion to shaping the future. Together, we work on life-changing programs that aim to fulfill our important mission. It is this collective action that has made a transformative impact on the lives of the women and girls we serve.

This is accomplished through a broad program of service covering six vital areas:

Human Rights

Women and girls are empowered by being afforded human rights and freedom from all forms of abuse and violence.

Education

Women and girls are enabled to achieve their full potential throughout their lifetime.

Social & Economic

Women live and work in safe and equitable environments with equal opportunities for advancement.

Health

Women and girls have optimal mental and physical health throughout all stages of their lifespan.

Environmental

We are equal partners in the process of managing natural resources, maintaining biodiversity, and achieving sustainable communities.

International

Women and girls are equal partners in the attainment of world peace, tolerance, and understanding.
